So as many know I decided to put together a royal guard as my first 501st kit. I have the robes, sash, boots, gloves, and neck seal done. I have a rubies royal guard helmet but am far to skinny to use it  . After scouring the internet for a don post I gave up and decided to try my hand at pepakura. The paper model is done and I will resin the outside and use smoothcast or similar for the inside. There will be a lot of bondo work but nothing too crazy.

Robes with rubies (it's the depth that is way off)

It'll be interesting to see how you get the pepakura helmet to have the amount of detail required for the Royal Guard...

Bondo, time, and patience. Most of the detail is already in the pep model; the time consuming part will be in making it go from geometric shapes into continuous curves. And while I will be selling my rubies it will help to have a direct comparison to the "screen accurate" version to check all of my details as I go

Jus tmake sure to do your research on all the curves and angles involved with that helmet.

I can tell you from personal experience that the Sovereign Protectors Detachment can get really picky with those costumes ;)

What's wrong with the Rubies? If it's too big where it hits your chest, why not use some padding?

^^Second that. That's what Tina did.

Side view with lacrosse shoulder pads on. I personally thought that gap was still too big and I'm not sure how much more padding the underrobe will allow me to add

I can see the pads underneath. I didn't realize you were THAT skinny...lol

Can we get a pic of how the pepped helmet is sitting on you?

Yeah, I can see that the pepped helmet definitely fits better now, but there might still be a way to alter the other helmet to fit a little better. I'm just not entirely sure how...

Regardless, it'd be awesome if you're able to get the detail needed out of that pepped helmet and get approved with it. It'd be a sweet accomplishment to put under the belt ;)

Tom Pete or Tina may be able to chime in and give some input on whether or not the other helmet can be altered.

I thought about altering the helmet but the amount I would need to change it would probably change the shape too much.

I'm very happy with how the pep has started, it was nice that the original scaling was pretty much spot on. I will be changing the shoulder pads however, the current ones have a weirdly placed additional piece that is causing the gap at the shoulder. Shoulder pads with a consistent height will allow it to sit flush.

Looking good bro the pepped helmet looks like it fits so much better, I look forward to seeing your progress. Have you thought about using a heat gun very carefully to reshape the rubies?

Thank you. Unfortunately waiting for warm weather to continue the pep build. I have thought about using a heat gun and while the front should be fairly straight forward the curve of the back starts about halfway up the helmet so it would be hard to curve it as much as I need it without it ending up looking really weird...

Ok I can see if it's not done very carefully and by two people it could end up looking...... Well not so good.
