At the time I did this up grade I hadn't yet been on a troop in armor but the guys told me it was hard to hear so I started researching and found a guy which many prob now as the DrunkenMynoch. He did a sick job on his bucket, it looked cool plus had stereo sound. I emailed him cause he said he was putting together a kit that had the sound system al assembled, and would sell them. well he only did a short run and hasn't done any more. He has however put a parts list together on his web stite and where he got them from. He also has posted a very detailed picture diagram on how to assemble it. So away I went. I ordered all the parts ( which took forever to get ) I would advise anyone to order from within the states when possible because you could be waiting weeks. Not (1), not (2), not (3) but up to 4 weeks just for parts. Once I got all the parts and tools I went to work.

I liked what he had done to his bucket but I had some idea's of my own that I thought would make it look really cool plus look like it was what might be inside a real stormtroopers lid.

I started with the ears I wanted the mics for the outside environmental sound system ( OESS ) inside the ears, I didn't want to drill holes in my bucket, the wires slid between the face and the back half of the lid perfectly with plenty of room. I took the ears and with a wood burning tool that I purchased from Walmart for under $10 that came with different kinds of tips turned the ears around and with the finest tip burned a slit between the bumps on the back side of each ear. Then I took an Exacto knife and cleaned up the slit by very carefully cutting the excess plastic off and straightening it. It was more like scraping than cutting I didn't want the slit to be too big I wanted it to be hidden.

I then took the mics and painted the edges black cause I didn't want you to see them through the slits,

After the paint dried I centered the mics over the slits and hot glued them in careful not to get glue on the + and - terminals,

When I connected the + and - wires to the right terminals on the mics I put electrical tape inside the shaft of the ears to hold down the wires and hide them. I then put the ears back on and the wires were totally hidden.

The next thing I needed to do is make boxes that my amp boards will go into. The amp boards are just that circuit boards, I didn't want to just put them in the lid unprotected so I looked all over for weeks before I found the perfect size box. It is a push pin box I found at Joe Ann Fabrics, yes full of push pins, what did I do with all those push pins you ask.... Well nothing lol I just put them into a Tupperware container lol. I had to cut off the hanger piece that is use to hang them for display. I used a Exacto knife to scord as close to the box as possible then used a dremel the sand down the rest till it was flush. Sorry no pics of that.
