Well, the boots didn't fit--I may or may not have pouted about it for a hot minute. You can put the wombat away Topher, it's back to Ebay for me.

It always sucks when something doesn't work out on your costume.

We're going to try the cobbler first. I did a bit more research online and another source says they can be stretched wide enough...we'll see. I don't really want to give these boots up since I'm having trouble finding the right kind of boots that will work with this costume and the next one I have in mind.

If a stranger saw all the adds on my Facebook feed right now they'd think I took up horseback riding. Every add I see is for boots right now...I even had an add for riding pants yesterday. I think the only other thing I will be able to buy for my costume is the gloves. At this point I'm already over budget...but its necessary since I had to get a sewing machine too.

Lol here is a secret, there is no budget lol. All costumes will tap you out, up grades, mods, repairs, maintenance lol, it adds up quick!! Just know this, we are all on the same page!! All of us have and some are still going through what you are going through. When you finally get your costume where you want it, along comes that next costume that tugs at you to make lol!!! Keep going you'll get there lol!!

I'm going to start cutting my pattern tonight. I want to have at least part of the fabric cut when I go to that sewing class next week so I something to work on. Even if I mess this one up, I should have enough fabric to do a second dress...and even if the material doesn't work...it was only $7.

I budget for everything...it's an excuse to use excel and to be and to keep track of what I'm spending. It's really a starter budget, I know I'll blow through it. I just wanted to estimate my initial costs. I've had to adjust it a few times already...

Hi and WELCOME!

yes the boots can be stretched. I used some 20oz bottles and rubbed them with a product with tea-tree oil inside to stretch out a pair of womens riding boots. worked flawlessly.

How far did you stretch them? I'm finding various opinions. Some are saying 2 inches easy and others say barely an inch.
